A Sweetline Status

After a very busy summer, I am able to catch up a bit and restyle my dedication to the Sweetline and the Sweetline blog with new content, new interviews, new ideas and more. I am definitely still in a bit of an overdrive but am currently taking steps to create even more balance in my work life and real life. Often, as many of you small business owners know, these things cross over. I wanted to take a moment and share what Sweetline is and how I can work with you. I also will be sharing a fab client launch and some social media style that I've been working on for the last few months for iconic brand, DKNY.

*Sweetline's Services*
Sweetline is a consulting-style company for companies and brands looking to create, evolve or grow their online presence. I work with both small companies (a shop owner, a pr firm, an interior designer, etc) and large brands (DKNY, Fast Company, etc) I am the person for you if you need helping defining your editorial voice on your professional site, social media 101 or if you want to create new social media communities, strategy and style.

*A Sweetline client launch*
The very lovely and very talented, Rachel Gill, of La Bella Bungalow has just launched her online presence for her brand new e-decorating company. Already a lovely blogger and stylist, Rachel was ready to take her love of design style to the professional level by launching a business to help people virtually decorate their homes in both an affordable and chic way. I worked with Rachel over the summer to concept and define her editorial voice on her professional website. Click here to check out La Bella Bungalow and hire this girl - she knows design + decor!

*Influence & Apples*
I've been working with a cutting-edge production and creative company in San Francisco that is doing some very cool + innovative viral and community projects. Two of these are The Influence Project for Fast Company and the DKNY Fragrances facebook community launch. While the brands are both huge, the social media work and style is very personal - the sign of the social media times.

*Extending Blog Out Loud even further*
I've also been keeping Blog Out Loud going with a fantastic NY event this past June and an upcoming LA event next Tuesday, 9/21. I am so proud of BOL and the community. I started this last year purely because so many people wanted to learn about how to use and integrate social media into their own businesses. What better way then listening to people that are already doing it - and doing it well. This next panel is very exciting - a true lifestyle panel with the fashion, food, travel, culture, cool mom and home remodeling verticals represented. Yes!

And in other news....for tons of fabulous social media inspiration, click here to enjoy the Shine Online series. Also, my home office where I run Sweetline was featured on Unplggd - check it out right here. And I was also sweetly part of Nesting Newbies 4th issue and also the premiere issue of Rue magazine for loving. living. small. and Sweetline.

:: a Sweetline check-in ::

It's been two months since Sweetline launched and we wanted to do a little check in with you and share some thoughts about our company, our process and our projects. We've already spoken with and met so many talented and creative people - we love this work!

Our Company ::
Sweetline is an online brand project management company that offers two lines of interaction -
1 :: We work with lifestyle clients to get their online presence up and running
2 :: We work directly with brands to do online ideation, strategy and social media engagement for specific projects and/or overall brand building and extension.

We work with lifestyle clients - shop owners, product makers, artists, photographers, creative types - by collaborating and guiding the online presence in three ways. We You can package them together or go a la carte ::
  • Defining and concepting your online voice for your professional site
  • Teaching your how to jump in to social media and build your own community and also how to engage in others
  • Project managing the website design and build with a 3-party vendor
Our marketing and ideation work is for companies looking to engage with their communities in specific ways and targeted way.

Our Process ::
The Sweetline process can go quickly. We can get you up and running in 4 - 8 weeks, depending on the scope of work. We want you to get up online so your presence can do it's magic and your community can engage with you - that's what we are about.

Our projects are collaborative and we ask that you dedicate your time to the timeline. (We will be right there with you the entire way!) There is work on your part too and you will actually view your own company in a new light. Think of Sweetline as part-sounding board, part-manager, part-cheerleader and part-partner in the process. Your biggest client is YOUR OWN and creating an online presence is key.

Our Clients ::
We couldn't have asked for better clients to begin this adventure with so thank you for jumping in and taking this journey with Sweetline AND (of course) for your own online presence. We are currently working with lovely and talented clients - a soon-to-be launched e-decorating company, a high-end kitchen & bath hardware company and a vintage home decor shop owner. Sites and social media to be launching soon so stay tuned!

:: build your community online & meet up offline ::
What's Hot 2010 :: Mass Mingling

:: Our group of masses at BOL 3 last year ::

We've been getting ready for the big BLOG OUT LOUD 6 event in NYC on Monday and definitely are excited! It's a great evening and an opportunity to meet tons of like-minded people and e-friends in the real world. Also known as mass mingling, real-life meet-ups stemming from social media communities are all the rage - and we get it! So many of us e-know each other and meeting in person bonds new friendships and business-ships. Trend Watching's June newsletter is all about mass mingling and it's fantastic to know that we are part of it over at BOL!

I posted over on the BOL blog that "We definitely know that long gone are the days/nights of feeling "isolated" while typing away on the keypads. Now is a time where like-minded people are connecting online and meeting offline - YES! I often share with people who aren't into social media yet that it IS relating, just in a different form. While it starts online (yes, it does take a bit to get used to at first), it's really a vehicle for forming relationships, friendships, business-ships that can be taken offline and in-person"

As you build your own social media communities, consider meeting up with new e-friends. Take advantage of possible living near a new e-friend because you never know where it can lead.

Social Media --> New Connections --> New Opportunities in Life --> New Business Opportunities --> Success

Click here to read the full TREND WATCHING JUNE 2010 article here to be on the pulse of mass mingling.

:: blog out loud 6 ::
NYC | 6.14.10

We are thrilled to share that BLOG OUT LOUD 6 will be in just a few weeks in New York - our first east-coast event. Rebecca created this social media community about a year ago after observing that a ton of small business owners were interested in blogging + social media but didn't know how to get into the mix. Partnering with beach bungalow 8 on this neat venture, BLOG OUT LOUD has become a popular event series that is inspiring and accessible. In fact, BOL was definitely one of the inspirations of Sweetline! We are just getting ready to share all the details and goodies over on the BOL blog so stay tuned!

:: what does community mean to you? ::

if you've followed the social media wave at all (and I am sure you have!) then you definitely have heard the term community being used - and used a lot. What do you think about this word - does it really fit? I think - YES!

I checked out some definitions of community and liked this one - featured above. I really do believe that the word being used in social media is representative of the idea + vision of community. It's simple, it's honest, it's people relating to people and coming together because of it. Wow - this has made business and engaging with consumers a pretty neat and special experience. Why wouldn't you want to get in the social media mix? Life is busy and day-to-day details are too but if you have time to enjoy a cup of coffee, you have time to build your community. It takes a bit of a learning curve (like anything worthwhile, right?!?!) so go for it, meet new friends and build your brand and your community.

Want to see some more inspiration from this sweet trip to Red Rock last week?

:: making decisions about your online look ::
Sweetline's re-launch!

:: oh la la, a sneak peek at the *new* Sweetline site ::

like anything in life, feeling comfortable and ok is what it's about, right!? as much as you know something feels good, you also know when, well, you don't feel ok. I spent the last three months working with a vendor to get my own online presence up and running for this little company, Sweetline. What started as an exciting venture has ended in a not as bright light. But that's ok - working with different personalities and people's styles allows you to grow and evolve. So does making the right decision.

So here's the deal...

A few days ago, I decided to re-do Sweetline's site and the Sweetline blog myself using a fantastic + super affordable templated site that I have used before and I switched the blog over to Blogger and redesigned it. (I had tried Wordpress but I just love Blogger plus they have completely evolved into Blogger 2.0. It's amazing!). Although this is the route I went, I hope you consider all avenues as you get your own site up online. (and I'll be with you every step of the way!)

I am just wrapping up the last details and will relaunch next week. I am *really* happy with my new site & blog and feel that it's much more me and much more Sweetline. And that's what it's about and the heart of Sweetline - to work with talented and amazing people like YOU and help you with the process of getting up online in a way that makes YOU feel good and solid about your brand. So much so that you can scream it from the hills, or the social media hills.

So in the meantime, if you've already subscribed to the Sweetline blog (and many of you have - thank you!!!!), please take a moment and CLICK HERE to re-subscribe for free. And here's what's in store for you next week.

  • The official relaunch of Sweetline - woo hoo!
  • Sweetline's new interview series, SHINE ONLINE, featuring savvy bloggers & brands that make it look easy.
  • An example of a horizontal integrated post theme that will get you motivated to blog, blog, blog.
  • The brand new Sweetline Suggestions tab - 20 of the best blogs and sites you HAVE to bookmark! Check these out now since Sweetline will be curating this section every few weeks to keep you updated with gems for inspiration.
  • 15% off the Sweetline process. Email to get going | rebecca@sweetlineagency.com

Ok, new friends, I am super excited to begin this fabulous + exciting adventure with you!

I wanted to share a neat conference that's coming up in a few weeks - NorthBay SocialBiz 2010 Media Conference. I am thrilled to be speaking at it. My topic - Blogging for Business. I love the idea of creative brands using tools like blogging and twitter to connect to like-minded e-friends and new clients and customers. (Pretty much the foundation for Sweetline -yes!!) I'll be holding 4 mini-workshops and sharing thoughts on really defining your social media voice (like this post right here), how to manage a time schedule and build your own community and connect with other communities.
